Flashdecks.com is a great resource for teachers

Happy_teacher.jpgWhen we created Flashdecks.com, an "Open Content" flashcard website, we specifically had teachers and students in mind. Creating and organizing flashcards is simple for teachers. Students can independently and anonymously access flashcards anywhere. Memorization of facts can be rapidly facilitated through repeated use. And best of all, it is free and open to anybody.

After quickly creating an account, a teacher can easily author a deck of flashcards. Flashcard decks are simple to edit and maintain. To ease flashcard creation further, flashcard decks can be imported in bulk. Groups of flashcards can be organized by Collections, which can encapsulate flashcard decks for a class or subject. Since all FlashDecks are "open content", teachers aren't limited to the flashcards and decks they create, but have access to the whole world of FlashDecks to use and build from.

Students can access their own, peer's or teacher's FlashDecks and Collections anonymously on any browser in any device. Bookmarks are used by students to organize their working flashcard decks. Students benefit from independent learning, with scores available for their own information and not for grading.

By using spaced repetition learning, short-term memory can be solidified into long-term memory. Flashcards are a natural and time-tested tool for this learning technique. You will see your progress as you use your own, or another's, deck of flashcards. By making flashcards openly available to anyone anywhere, we at FlashDecks.com hope that we can be a tool for those who who quest to learn more.
